Four things we do differently. None of them are clever marketing. They’re the difference between a wall you’ll forget about and one you’ll be calling someone back to fix in six months.
Festool dust extraction
We invested in a full Festool setup so the site stays clean. Other trades carry on working alongside us. The family living in the house doesn’t find compound dust over every surface when we leave.
Three full coats, always
Not two coats with a wet sand. Three proper coats. Most jointers shortcut to two on residential because clients don’t notice straight away. Low light and gloss paint expose those joints six months later. We don’t take the gamble.
Rigid plasterers’ angle bead
Half this trade has switched to flexible corner tape. We haven’t. Rigid bead means corners stay sharp, dents don’t show after the first hoover knock, and decorators don’t ring up afterwards asking who put the cheap stuff on.
Crews up to 6
We scale to your programme. A bedroom extension gets the right resourcing. A 500-room hotel fit-out gets a full team. We don’t undercrew big jobs, and we don’t stretch out small ones to fill a week either.

I’m James. Here’s how I run my crew.
I’ve been a tape and jointer for years. JG Tapers and Jointers started as me and a small team in Luton, working sites across the home counties. We’ve grown the crew to six. We’ve stayed picky about who we bring in.
There’s something I tell every potential client, and it sounds blunt. Only 1 in 10 jointers in this trade is genuinely any good. The rest are passable. We hire and train to stay in the 10%.
Most of our day-to-day work happens inside a 70-mile radius of Luton. London, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire. For bigger contracts we travel further. The largest job we’ve taken on was a 500-room hotel fit-out in Hounslow worth £330,000. The smallest was a single wall at £500. Same three coats either way. Same rigid bead. Same finish.
Cutting to two coats seems harmless until the morning sun hits the wall at a low angle and every joint shows up. We don’t take that gamble.
What we do
Services we offer
Commercial and residential. Labour-only or supply and fix. We work with main contractors on tight programmes and with private clients on home renovations.
Commercial taping and jointing
Hotels, office fit-outs, retail, hospitality, car showrooms, warehouses. We programme to your schedule, work around the other trades on site, and hit deadlines. Most main contractors hire us labour-only.
Residential taping and jointing
Renovations, extensions, new builds, occupied homes. The Festool kit matters most here. People living in the property don’t end up with dust over their kitchen counters and skirtings when we leave.
Fermacell FST (Fine Surface Treatment)
Fermacell finished to Fine Surface Treatment standard, ready for paint or paper. A lot of jointers won’t touch Fermacell. The technique is different and the margin for error is smaller. We do it, and we do it properly. More on our Fermacell page.
Labour-only or supply and fix
Tell us what suits your build. Materials supplied through us, or yours on site. Most contractors prefer labour-only. Residential clients usually want the full package. Either’s fine, the standard doesn’t change.

Commercial fit-out. Full hotel taped and jointed, programmed around mechanical, electrical, and the rest of the trades on site. Handed over snag-free.
8,500 m²
Car showroom, Coventry
A major dealership build. Large clean spans of wall and ceiling, tight schedule for the showroom opening. Nothing to redo afterwards.
Residential
Pool & gym, Leamington Spa
Private residential. Uplighting straight onto the walls, every joint visible to anyone walking in. Zero snags. Client referred two more clients off the back of it.
Commercial
Feature wall, VW Reading
Detail work for a Volkswagen showroom in Berkshire. The kind of finish that needs proper rigid bead and patience. Not corner tape and speed.
